Learning Activities: South Carolina Standards
April marks the twentieth anniversary of the launch of the Hubble space telescope (HST). The HST, named after the famous American astronomer Edwin Hubble, was launched into orbit by the space shuttle Discovery in April of 1990.
SIRS Issues Researcher offers a Leading Issue addressing this topic: Space Missions. Have students answer this essential question: "Should the United States continue with plans to return to the moon and put men on Mars?"
Your SIRS Discoverer subscription offers hands-on sets of essential questions for critical thinking related to tsunamis and tidal waves: What causes tsunamis and tidal waves and why are some more dangerous than others? Where are they most likely to occur? What kind of damage do these waves create?
